Special Olympics

Being involved in the community does not stop for the Redmond Police Department when we leave work. Among the many organizations the police personnel donate time to is Special Olympics.

Special Olympics

Along with many police agencies throughout the United States, Redmond Police fully supports the efforts of Special Olympics Washington. The Law Enforcement Torch Run Campaign has raised millions of dollars for Special Olympics around the world.

Special Olympics provides year-round sports training and athletic competitions in an Olympic setting for individuals with special needs. All contributions are welcome, and of course, Special Olympics Washington is a 501(c)3 tax-deductible charitable organization.

The Redmond Police Department currently hosts 2 events per year. The Polar Plunge takes place each year in March at Idylwood Park in Redmond.  Tip-A-Cop is held at both of our Redmond Red Robin locations each Fall. This is a chance for our officers to help serve food, smiles and entertainment. All of the tips given to the officers go directly to Special Olympics Washington.

If you have questions, feel free to contact Officer Davin Alsin at 425-556-2671 or dtalsin@redmond.gov.

In 2015 the Redmond Police Department teamed up with the Mercer Island and Snoqualmie Police Departments to dive into the frigid waters of Lake Sammamish. Thanks to the support of everyone who attended, supported and donated the 2015 Polar Plunge was successful in raising over $27,000 for Special Olympics.
