October 28 2013 Public Meeting
On October 28, 2013, the City held a public meeting for the 166 Avenue NE Rechannelization Project at the Old Redmond Schoolhouse Community Center from 5 to 7 PM.
Concern for safety on 166 Avenue NE was the focus of the public meeting. Meeting participants were asked to comment on improvements planned between NE 85 and NE 100 Street. City listened for concerns previously unreported by area drivers. All public comments will be considered in the final design going to the City Council in December.
At the start of the meeting, a Powerpoint presentation helped familiarize meeting attendees with improvements planned for 166 Avenue NE and reported on known safety issues at key intersections needing additional public input to address. Two short video clips included in the presentation demonstrate how drivers deal with the limited sight distance on 166 Avenue NE at NE 95 Street by stopping beyond the stop bar or by pulling into the oncoming lane of traffic.
Following the presentation, meeting attendees were given the opportunity to ask questions about the rechannelization on 166 Avenue NE and about potential safety improvements at NE 85, NE 95, and NE 100 Street. Click on the link to view the most frequently asked questions about the project.
