This plan provides an inventory of the parks system; projects the future park systems needs for the next six, ten, and 20 years based on a demand analysis and public involvement; and prioritizes projects in a capital improvement program that must be adopted by City Council. This plan must complies with the Growth Management Act and thereby, the City of Redmond's Comprehensive Plan and Parks Element of the Comprehensive Plan.
This plan is the functional plan for the Parks and Recreation Department. It contains and implementation plan and capital improvement plan to implement the goals and policies in the Comprehensive Plan for parks, recreation and arts. The plan also makes the City eligible for funding from the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office (RCO). The Recreation and Conservation Funding Board (RCFB) is the primary source of funds for parks and recreation programs as it distributes federal funds to state and local programs.
