Why Are Sports Fields Closed?

With posted signage and park ambassadors in our parks, we have been able to keep our parks and trails open for public use during the COVID-19 pandemic. Unfortunately, sports fields and other amenities have been difficult to ensure physical distancing and minimize the transmission risk. Even as the City has closed these spaces, large groups of people have accessed and utilized these amenities without following the guidelines of the Governor’s Office, King County Public Health or the CDC. The City does not have the ability to monitor the use of sports fields during rental activities to ensure that requirements are met. The health and safety of the community and minimizing the risk of transition is our top priority. Rental requests are being accepted for Phase 3. All requests must include a safety plan demonstrating adherence to the Governor’s guidelines.

Please contact us for field availability during Phase 3.
