What is the City doing to make the new contracts better than the old ones with respect to Customer Service issues?

There are several possibilities for improving on the old contracts from 2008 and 2013 including:

  • Negotiating higher customer service standards or unilaterally adopting newer customer service standards.
  • If permitted by Federal Law, negotiating consumer protection standards.
  • Negotiating or adopting increased penalties for violating standards.
  • Increasing enforcement of contract provisions by regularly monitoring cable company performance.
  • Shortening the term of the franchise renewals to allow for more frequent contract negotiations in the future.
