[ARCHIVED] City Seeks Community Members for Budget Team - UPDATED: June 16, 2022

REDMOND, WA – Every even year, the City of Redmond recruits a budget team of community members to support the City’s Budgeting by Priorities process instituted in 2008. The innovative budget process was used to develop the City’s last seven biennial budgets, including setting performance measures for the government services provided. The Budgeting by Priorities process has changed the focus of Redmond’s budget activities from one of evaluating budget increments to focusing on programs most valued by the community members.

The City will soon begin the process for the 2023-2024 biennial budget and seeks members of the community to volunteer on the Civics Results Team. This team will evaluate programs under the City’s four priorities:

  • Healthy and Sustainable
  • Safe and Resilient
  • Strategic and Responsive
  • Vibrant and Connected

After an initial overview of the budget process, city operations, and introductions to city leadership, the Civic Results Team will prioritize city budget programs. The programs will be prioritized based on their expected contribution toward the outcomes identified by the community and in alignment with the City’s vision. The team will recommend to the Mayor and department directors programs that should be considered for inclusion in the preliminary budget.

Interested Redmond residents or those who work in Redmond are encouraged to apply by sending a letter of interest to Mayor Birney at mayor@redmond.gov. Volunteer requirements include the ability to meet remotely with city staff for two hours on Thursday evenings from June 16 to July 14. Letters of interest will be accepted for consideration through June 9, 2022.

UPDATE - June 16, 2022: Letters of interest will be continue to be accepted throughout the Civic Results Team process. Letters received before June 23 will have precedence.
