Redmond Police Department is partnering with the City of Redmond to host a free community catalytic converter etching and painting event to help deter thefts. The event is on Saturday, April 23, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the City of Redmond’s Maintenance Operations Center (MOC), which is located at 18080 Northeast 76th Street in Redmond.
Registration is required. This free service is in high demand and appointments will fill up quickly, so register today at Free Catalytic Converter Etching Event. Please know that catalytic converters housed inside a shield or cage are unable to be engraved. If a community member is
unsure about their vehicle, they are encouraged to have it checked before signing up for an appointment.
Over the past few years, catalytic converter theft has seen a large increase in Redmond, as well as across the country due to precious metals contained inside. The loss value of catalytic converters reported by Redmond victims in 2021 is just over $210,000. Engraving a catalytic converter can make it harder for thieves to sell and easier to recover.
Please contact the Redmond Police Department at 425-556-2500 if you have information regarding a recent catalytic converter theft.
