Redmond Man Arrested as Arson Suspect in Downtown Fire

Marbella Strip Mall FireA 23-year-old Redmond resident was charged on Thursday, Jan. 20 for the recent suspected arson in Downtown Redmond that destroyed two businesses and damaged three others. Tyndale Cubbo Santos Mariur, who identified himself as Tyn Santos, was arrested by Redmond Police Department (RPD) on Wednesday, Jan. 19 on unrelated charges.

Mariur faces charges of second-degree arson and second-degree burglary in the devastating fire.

Redmond Fire Department responded to the fire around 4:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 14, in a building near NE 87th Street and 161st Avenue Northeast in Downtown Redmond. The blaze damaged several businesses including Tropea Ristorante Italiano, Redmond Pilates Center, Namaste Indian Restaurant, Sip Thai Bistro, and Ocean Optical.

Redmond Fire is still investigating the origin of the fire. Anyone with information on the suspect or his whereabouts prior to the blaze is asked to contact the Redmond Police Department at 425-556-2500.
