REDMOND, WA – The City of Redmond is now accepting a second round of applications for 2022 special event and tourism grants. Grants are provided through the Tourism Promotion Program for projects that assist with tourism development and promotion in the City of Redmond. The goal of Redmond's Tourism Promotion Program is to attract visitors, especially overnight visitors, to Redmond. To be considered for grant funding, applications must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb.16.
Grant applicants may be cultural, historical, educational, sports, or community organizations coordinating events, tournaments, or promotions that bring visitors to Redmond. The grants are paid for by a portion of the one percent sales tax collected on hotel rooms located in Redmond. Grants may not exceed 50% of the cost of the project. For the 2022 grant season, events that have already taken place or begun this year and those yet to take place are eligible to apply.
This is the second round of grant funding for 2022 due to the uncertainty COVID-19 created for project organizers during the initial 2022 grant window. Reapplications for the same projects that already applied for 2022 funding will not be accepted. The Redmond Lodging Tax Advisory Committee will evaluate qualifying applications on a competitive basis, using the official tourism promotion funding criteria, and will forward recommendations to the City Council for approval.
For more information or questions about the grant program, please email Jackie Lalor, Economic Development and Tourism Program Administrator at jlalor@redmond.gov. Applications are available through the City of Redmond’s website redmond.gov/TourismGrant.
