REDMOND, WA – The City of Redmond has two openings on the Planning Commission for anyone who lives within Redmond city limits. The commission’s role is to make recommendations to the City Council regarding proposed amendments to Redmond’s Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Code. These recommendations are based on topics involving the future growth of the City, neighborhood planning, infrastructure, and the environment, among others. The City is committed to having a commission that reflects the diversity of the community and encourages applications from all residents who are interested in the future of Redmond, including those who may have applied for past vacancies.
Desirable qualities of a commissioner include a strong interest in the diversity of community issues, an ability to review the meeting materials in advance, and skills in communicating with others. The seven-member commission meets at 7 p.m. on Wednesdays, typically two to three times a month. Currently meetings are held virtually. Once the COVID-19 state of emergency is lifted, meetings will be held in person at Redmond City Hall. All board and commission members are volunteers.
To learn more about the commission or to apply, please go to www.redmond.gov/Commissions. There is no deadline, however interested community members are encouraged to apply by 5 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 13. The positions will remain open until filled.
