May 18, 2020

An unidentified thief stole a wallet and credit cards out of an unlocked vehicle and used the pilfered cards at local stores soon after. The investigation is ongoing.

- Type: Fraud
- Case Number: 20-009471
A fraudster conned $500 out of a person thinking they were paying a deposit on a rental home. The victim found the listing on Craigslist and sent the money on a money transfer app. After becoming suspicious, the victim contacted the actual homeowner who knew nothing about the rental post. The suspect is not currently known.

An unknown subject stole wheels, tires, leather seats, and seatbelts from two cars parked at an auto dealership. There was so suspect information immediately available.
May 19, 2020

- Type: Identity Theft
Police have documented more than 100 cases of Redmond residents falling victim to unemployment fraud in the last several weeks. This particular scam has been rampant across the state. Information on how to check if your identity has been used to file for unemployment illegally can be found here: esd.wa.gov/fraud. Police are investigating the theft and prowling of several vehicles at a local rental business. The unidentified suspect or suspects stole utility vehicles and damaged the business' fence and other property.

An Audi owner called police after he found his car had been stolen from his apartment parking lot sometime during the previous day or so. The thief is not known.
May 21, 2020

A rental car agency reported an auto theft after the renter failed to return the vehicle. According to the victim, the renter said he was driving to Louisiana and would return the car to a company office there. The vehicle has not yet been located.

A 25-year-old motorcyclist was arrested for reckless driving after a traffic officer clocked him going 112 mph in a 60 mph zone on SR 520. He is facing charges, hefty fines and police impounded his motorcycle.

A rented Chrysler was stolen from the parking lot of a local hotel sometime overnight. The investigation continues.
May 23, 2020

Police responded to a report of an idling SUV that had been driven into some bushes in the front yard of a Redmond home. Officers found two people inside, both passed out, and discovered the vehicle had been reported stolen. The 24-year-old male found asleep in the driver's seat still had the vehicle in drive and his foot was depressing the brake pedal. The suspect is facing charges for being in possession of a stolen vehicle and providing a fake name to the police.

A 50-year-old male is facing charges after he attempted to acquire medication with a fraudulent prescription at a local pharmacy.
