Selected crime reports for the week of March 4 through March 10, 2019

March 4, 2019

  • Time: 18:00
  • Location: 7300 block of Bear Creek Parkway
  • Type: Vehicle Prowl
  • Case Number: 19-001200

An unknown prowler rummaged through two cars parked in a mall garage. One victim did not notice any items missing from his vehicle and there was no sign of forced entry. Another victim reported a wallet had been stolen from the glove box and the credit cards were used shortly after.

A truck was stolen from an apartment parking lot sometime overnight. No further information was immediately available.

March 5, 2019

  • Case Number: 19-001207

An unidentified suspect stole several tools out of two truck beds while they were parked in a lot.

  • Case Number: 19-001208

Police investigated a report of theft after someone siphoned gasoline out of two parked vehicles. Evidence collected at the scene is being processed but the suspect has not yet been identified.

  • Case Number: 19-001225

Officers arrested a female suspected of shoplifting clothing from a local department store. She was also in the possession of illegal drug paraphernalia and tools associated with retail theft. The suspect was booked into jail and several charges are pending.

March 6, 2019

  • Case Number: 19-001243

A purse containing cash, IDs, credit cards and other personal items was stolen out of a parked car. The thief smashed a window, grabbed the bag and took off. No information on the suspect's identity was available.

March 7, 2019

  • Type: Vehicle Prowl
  • Case Number: 19-800099

A wallet, laptop and backpack were stolen out of an unlocked car. The suspect is not known.

  • Location: 16500 block of NE 35th Court
  • Type: Residential Burglary
  • Case Number: 19-001256

Police were called after a burglar busted open the front door of an unoccupied apartment, ransacked the bedroom and left unseen. A passerby on the nearby trail called the apartment office when she noticed the door was kicked in. Officers did not locate the suspect but evidence collected is being processed and the investigation is ongoing.

  • Case Number: 19-001257

A woman called police after falling victim to a convincing phone scam from someone posing as a Seattle Police Homicide Detective. The suspect told the victim that her personal bank accounts had been compromised and advised she send her money to another account to protect her investments. She was also told to mail cash to an address in Florida for her own protection. The suspect concocted a convincing ruse, as when the victim looked up the number the suspect called her from and it came back as the SPD Homicide Unit. Fraudsters have found away to spoof official numbers to add another layer of believability to their lies. Investigation is ongoing.

March 8, 2019

  • Type: Fraud
  • Case Number: 19-001288

Police investigated a report of a person using counterfeit bills to purchase an Xbox from someone he met on an online marketplace. The two met to exchange the game console and cash and the victim realized the money looked suspicious after the transaction was completed.

March 9, 2019

  • Location: 7500 block of 166th Ave NE
  • Type: Vehicle Prowl
  • Case Number: 19-001291

A woman reported her vehicle window was smashed and purse was stolen from her front seat while she was shopping. The thief then used one of her credit cards soon after at a shop in Bellevue. The suspect's identity is currently not known.

  • Type: Commercial Burglary
  • Case Number: 19-001292

Officers investigated a report of a burglary after a local apartment manager found someone had broken into a vacant unit. The suspect had apparently disconnected a hose in the bathroom and flooded the apartment with water. No property was stolen but the flooding caused about $3000 in damage. No arrests have been made.

March 10, 2019

  • Case Number: 19-001307

A wallet was stolen out of a parked car by an unknown prowler.

  • Location: 15700 block of Redmond Way
  • Type: Arrest
  • Case Number: 19-001313

A 58-year-old man was arrested after causing an obscenity-laced disturbance in a local coffee shop. Employees called police after the suspect broke a chair inside the store and was screaming at people inside. Officers trespassed the man who then continued his fit on the sidewalk by throwing signs into oncoming traffic, barely missing a vehicle. The belligerent male refused all directions to stop, attempted to run away from officers and was ultimately detained. He was booked on suspicion of Disorderly Conduct, Reckless Endangerment and Resisting Arrest.
