Police investigated a car prowl where a purse left in the vehicle was taken and debit cards were used shortly after. No suspect has been identified.

A couple visiting from the East Coast found their rental car had been stolen while parked outside their rental apartment. There was no suspect information immediately available.

An eyeglass store employee called police after finding someone had smashed the glass front door and burglarized the business. Responding officers did not locate the suspect but evidence gathered at the scene is being processed. The investigation is ongoing.
September 18, 2018

- Location: 14800 block of NE 67th Court
At least three vehicles were rifled through by an unknown prowler sometime overnight. It appeared all of the cars had been left unlocked as there were no signs of forced entry.

Officers apprehended a shoplifting suspect outside of a local grocery store. The 25-year-old male tried to evade officers by running into the woods, but was quickly located. He was booked on suspicion of theft, possession of drug paraphernalia and obstructing a law enforcement officer.

A 56-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of DUI after police found him unconscious behind the wheel of a running vehicle. Officers contacted the suspect after spotting his truck idling partially on the sidewalk and partially blocking the road. After exhibiting many signs of intoxication the suspect was booked into jail.

A woman called police after finding her vehicle had been stolen from her apartment parking lot. The suspect apparently found a spare key to the victim's car while rummaging through her other vehicle. The vehicle was located a few days later in Kirkland but no suspect has been arrested.

A fraudster posing as a landlord swindled more than $5000 out of a person trying to rent a home. The victim was talked into electronically sending money to secure the property, but soon found out the suspect had no connection to the property up for rent. The suspect has not yet been identified.

Police investigated the theft of mail from an unsecured mailbox by an unknown suspect.
September 22, 2018

- Location: 16100 block of Cleveland St. and vicinity
Several vehicles were prowled sometime overnight and various personal items were stolen by the unknown suspect. Some cars had a window smashed and others were apparently left unlocked. Evidence gathered by police is being processed.

A thief scammed a woman out $15,000 by claiming to be her granddaughter and needing money to bail her out of jail and pay for a lawyer. The crooks contacted the victim on several occasions, coerced her into buying gift cards for large amounts of money and giving them the card numbers over the phone. There was no suspect information immediately available. RPD advises reminding friends and relatives that these types of scams are common and to never give bank account information or purchase gift cards for unknown people on the phone.

Police were called to investigate a car prowl at a local hotel. The victim reported her suitcase had been stolen sometime overnight. There was no suspect information immediately available.
