Redmond Police join the 5 to Stay Alive Enforcement Campaign
Redmond police are joining the King County Target Zero Task Force for increased enforcement of the five of the most common causes of collisions that result in death and serious injury. The most deadly causes of collisions are impairment, distractions, not wearing seat belts, speed, and not yielding to pedestrians. "We want people to get to where they are going safely, we see too many crashes caused by these five main factors," said Redmond Traffic Sergeant Steve Lincoln. "If we can change behavior and prevent these five dangerous habits it will save lives." Redmond officers, police agencies throughout the county as well as the Washington State Patrol will be ramping up enforcement of these five infractions through March 24. Other agencies participating in the campaign include: Algona, Auburn, Bellevue, Black Diamond, Burien, Covington, Des Moines, Enumclaw, Federal Way, Issaquah, Kent, Lake Forest Park, Maple Valley, Mercer Island, Newcastle, Normandy Park, Pacific, Port of Seattle, Sammamish, SeaTac, Seattle, Shoreline, Snoqualmie, and Tukwila Police Departments, and the Washington State Patrol.
