The victim told police she was talking on her cell phone at about 4:15 p.m. at the bus stop in the 4800 block of 156th Ave NE. The suspect walked up to her, slapped her phone out of her hand, and kicked her when she attempted to pick up the phone. The suspect then grabbed her gold necklace, yanked it from her neck, and ran off toward nearby apartments. The victim chased the suspect for a short time before he brandished a knife and fled the area on foot. Police were not notified of the incident until the following day so an immediate search of the area was not possible. The suspect was described as a black male in his 20s, with a goatee, about 5 feet 11 inches tall. He was wearing headphones, a gray hooded shirt, black pants and black shoes. (See attached suspect sketch.) The incident details are similar to several thefts that occurred last August and September in Redmond and Bellevue. Please call the Redmond Police non-emergency line at 425-556-2500 if you have any information about the suspect.
