Redmond police arrested a 29-year-old man after he carjacked a teen in Redmond on Wednesday afternoon. The 16-year-old driver was at a stoplight in the 6500 block of East Lake Sammamish Parkway when a volatile man approached his car. The suspect reportedly screamed at the driver, telling him God told him to take the car and that he was in a hurry. He then jumped through the open driver's side window and punched the victim in the face. Fearing further violence, the victim got out of his car and the suspect drove off toward Redmond Way. A few minutes later officers responded to West Lake Sammamish Parkway near SR520 and found the suspect had crashed the stolen car into three other vehicles. Witnesses reported seeing the suspect leap from the stolen car, run around, sit down for a bit, and then jump atop a Tesla that had been involved in the crash. During the fracas the suspect was erratically yelling at witnesses, hurling obscenities at the police, and intermittently screaming "I love you all!" Officers apprehended the suspect and he was booked into jail on suspicion of Robbery in the First Degree. Several people involved in the crash sustained minor injuries.
