After a brisk investigation last week, Redmond Police arrested a man suspected of stealing more than $12,000 worth of tools and returned the equipment to the rightful owners. Officers were called to investigate the theft on Sept. 10 after a construction crew discovered dozens of expensive tools had gone missing over the weekend. The suspect made off with drills, saws, lasers and other costly items from a construction site in the 7300 block of 185th Ave NE. Fortunately the victims were able to provide serial numbers and identifying details on each of the items and police quickly found the tools being sold online. RPD's Pro-Act team tracked the theft back to a 38-year-old male with a lengthy history of taking things that do not belong to him. Based on evidence found during the investigation, officers found probable cause for arrest and located the suspect on Sept. 13. After briefly attempting to evade police, officers detained the suspect without further incident. He was booked on suspicion of possessing stolen property, trafficking and various illegal drug offenses. The stolen tools were recovered from the suspect's residence and returned to the construction crew.
