January 29, 2019

A woman scammed a hair salon out of a $65 haircut after she paid for the service with $5 and a fraudulent coupon. The salon does not offer coupons and once the victim realized the woman hadn't paid in full the suspect had already taken off. Officers are continuing to investigate.

A store employee called police after his wallet and phone was taken out of the back room of the shop. The unidentified suspect used the stolen credit cards soon after.

Officers responded to reports of an assault at a local bar after a belligerent patron threw another customer into a table. A witness spotted the suspect and his companion run from the bar, get into an Uber and leave the area immediately after the altercation. No arrests have been made.

A thief smashed a work van window and stole several tools from inside. The suspect's identity is not known.

An unknown suspect broke into locked public bathrooms at a local apartment complex. The subject damaged the bathroom doors and left some clothing and other items behind.

A woman called police after being duped out of $17,000 by fraudsters posing to be from the Social Security Administration. The suspects called the victim, told her she had a warrant for her arrest and directed her to purchase numerous gift cards. She was then told to send the gift card numbers over WhatsApp messaging service. The aggressive callers convinced the victim to stay on the phone the entire time she was out purchasing the gift cards and threatened her with arrest if she didn't comply. RPD advises that government agencies will never request payments over the phone in gift cards. The suspects have not been identified.
January 31, 2019

A woman arrived home to find a stranger in her bedroom. The suspect did not threaten or harm the victim and nothing was stolen from the residence. The victim told police the suspect likely entered her home through an unlocked front door while she was out running errands. Officers searched the area but did not locate the suspect.

A 31-year-old man crashed a car into a brick wall, fled the area and attempted to hide from police. Officers deployed K-9 Remy who quickly found the suspect crouching in a shrubbery. The incident began when the suspect refused to pull over for a traffic stop, drove recklessly at a high rate of speed and slammed into the wall. A woman in the passenger's seat was also injured during the crash. Both people were transported to the hospital and DUI, Vehicular Assault and other charges are pending.
February 1, 2019

A 28-year-old woman is suspected of setting paper on fire in a public restroom in Redmond City Hall. Witnesses told police they noticed smoke in the women's bathroom and saw the suspect quickly leave the area. A witness found smoldering paper toilet seat covers in one of the stalls and began stamping out the embers. Officers quickly located the suspect on a nearby trail and she was arrested on suspicion of Arson. The fire in the restroom did not create extensive damage.
February 2, 2019

Officers investigated a report of two vehicles stolen overnight from a company's locked yard. The unknown suspects apparently cut the lock to enter the yard and stole a truck and a van. Both vehicles were located a few hours later nearby in unincorporated King County but no arrests have been made.

A wallet was stolen from an unsecured locker. The unknown suspect attempted to use the victim's credit cards a short time later.

A woman's cell phone and debit cards were taken from her cart while she was shopping at a local thrift store. The suspect is not known.
