May 21, 2018

A burglar entered a home through an open window while the owner slept upstairs and stole cash before sneaking out the deck door. The victim found the window screen knocked in where the suspect entered and discovered her purses had been rifled through. Nothing other than the cash in her wallet was missing and neither the victim or her dog heard any disturbance during the night. Police gathered evidence from the scene and sent it to be processed.

A woman reported she had been scammed by a man posing as a person wishing to rent a room from her. The suspect sent an electronic check over an instant money transfer app to allegedly rent a room for his daughter. He sent the check for $4000 more than the rent money and asked the victim to cash it and send it to other people to help them with travel costs. The victim complied, found out the initial check was a fake, and lost the money. Investigation into the names and phone numbers provided to the victim came up as consistent with similar swindles out of Chicago, IL.

Thousands of dollars worth of copper wire and other supplies were stolen from a construction site. The thieves cut a hole in the fence to access the goods sometime over the weekend. No suspect information was immediately available.

Several vehicles were broken into, searched, and had various property stolen. Officers did not see any obvious signs of forced entry on any of the vehicles.

An unknown suspect broke open an apartment front door and burglarized an apartment while the resident was away at work. The victim came home to find his front door damaged and several electronics missing from his home.

A woman reported her mail had been stolen and a money order she had been expecting was cashed by an unknown suspect.

A prowler smashed a car window and stole several items while the owner was golfing. No suspect has been identified.

After smashing a garage window with a stone block, a burglar gained entry into a home and made off with several electronic devices. Evidence collected at the scene is being processed.
