Selected crime reports for the week of April 30 through May 6, 2018. This is not a complete list of all incidents that occurred in Redmond during this time period. You can also reference our online crime map for further information. 

April 30, 2018

  • Type: Vehicle Prowls
  • Location: 6500 block of 152nd Ave and vicinity
  • Case Number: 18-002309, 18-002312

Several cars were rummaged through by an unknown suspect sometime overnight and cash and other personal items were taken. There was no obvious damage to any of the vehicles or signs of forced entry.

  • Location: 6000 block of East Lake Sammamish Parkway
  • Case Number: 18-002307

A construction company employee called police after discovering the building they are working on had been burglarized and vandalized sometime over the weekend. The unknown suspect stole several pieces of equipment and spray painted swastikas on the floor. Evidence was collected for fingerprinting and will be processed.

A check stolen from a woman's mailbox was fraudulently cashed for more than $200 at a local department store.

  • Location: 15300 block of NE 90th St.
  • Case Number: 18-002337

The manager of a construction company reported a truck had been stolen from their business sometime in the last several days. A set of keys to the truck was also missing, possibly still in the possession of an ex-employee. Investigation is ongoing.

  • Case Number: 18-002343

A scammer convinced a woman to pay $3000 in gift cards by telling her she owed back taxes and threatened that she would be arrested if she didn't pay immediately. The case has been sent to federal agencies that investigate IRS frauds. RPD advises to be suspicious of any caller claiming to be from an official agency asking for payment in gift cards.

  • Location: 18900 block of NE 67th Way
  • Case Number: 18-002387

A man reported someone had called him claiming to be from the Chinese consulate and that he was required to confirm various pieces of private information (Chinese passport number, address, date of birth, etc.) or he would be banned from entering China again. After becoming suspicious, the victim called the actual consulate and found the call had not been from an official. Officers advised the victim to keep a close eye on all personal accounts for suspicious activity.

  • Location: 8600 block of 173rd Ave NE
  • Case Number: 18-002371

An unknown suspect entered a newly purchased house and stole three suitcases full of the owners' belongings. The home is being remodeled and was not occupied at the time. There was no obvious signs of forced entry.

  • Location: 6400 block of East Lake Sammamish Parkway
  • Case Number: 18-002390

Police investigated a burglary that occurred sometime during the night at a local apartment. The victim woke to find his back door open and his work bag, wallet and other items missing from his living room. There was no evidence of forced entry on the door and no suspect information was immediately available.

A laptop, backpack and some food was stolen out of an unlocked vehicle by an unknown suspect while it was parked overnight. 

May 6, 2018

  • Location: 9900 block of Willows Road
  • Case Number: 18-002421

While at church, a man had his vehicle broken into and his vehicle registration and garage door opener stolen. Knowing the suspect had access to his home and his address, the victim called King County Sheriff's Office to check on his home in Sammamish. Upon arrival, a Deputy found his garage door open and a door into his house ajar but did not find any suspects in the home. The burglary case is under investigation by the Sheriff's Office.

2018 Polar Plunge Is This Saturday
