Police received a report that a fraudulent unemployment claim was made under the victim's name. This scam has been common during the COVID-19 pandemic, and victims are encouraged to report fraudulent unemployment claims to the Employment Security Department: ESDWAGOV - Unemployment benefits fraud.

Officers investigated the theft of a catalytic converter off of a van parked at a local business. The suspect has not been identified.

A thief smashed a parked vehicle's window and stole a backpack and laptop. The car prowler's identity is not known.

Officers arrested a 33-year-old male after he stole a pair of headphones from Home Depot and threatened an employee with a pair of scissors. The employee was not injured.

An unidentified thief stole the catalytic converter off a truck parked at a local business. There was no suspect information available.

Police investigated a fraud and identity theft report where the suspect managed to add their name to the victim's credit card without their knowledge and use their credit card number to make unauthorized purchases. The suspect was identified by detectives and is facing multiple charges.

Two males were arrested on suspicion of shoplifting numerous tools and other items from Home Depot. One of the suspects also had an arrest warrant out of Edmonds.
Nov. 21, 2020

A traffic officer pulled over a driver after observing him speeding, swerving in and out of his lane and not wearing his seatbelt. Upon talking with the driver, the officer discovered obvious signs the 48-year-old male was intoxicated, and DUI tests confirmed he was driving under the influence. The suspect was booked into jail and then released.

Police investigated a theft after a car prowler grabbed a wallet out of an unlocked vehicle and used the stolen credit cards shortly after at several local stores.

A work van was stolen out of the Home Depot parking lot while the employee was inside the store. The thief has not been identified.
Nov. 22, 2020

A resident called police after his home security camera captured video of a thief stealing a package off his front porch. The suspect's identity is not currently known. Package thefts increase around the holidays. RPD recommends having packages sent to a location where someone will be present or send them to a package locker or area where they can be picked up. Please call police if you witness thefts or suspicious activity in your neighborhood.
