REDMOND, Wash. - Redmond officers and Bellevue Police Department's bomb squad were called to investigate a suspicious device being waved around by a belligerent man Monday afternoon.
At about 4 p.m., employees at a department store in the 17600 block of Union Hill Road reported a man was yelling incoherently, threatening them and holding what appeared to be a pipe-bomb.
Redmond officers quickly arrived and detained the subject. Bellevue Police's bomb squad arrived soon after and determined the silver cylindrical metal tool was not an explosive device.
The RPD Mental Health Professional also responded to the incident to speak with the suspect, assess necessary mental health resources, and help officers while they maintained a calm interaction. The suspect, who also had an active warrant, was booked into jail and is facing charges.
