REDMOND, Wash. – A 39-year-old woman was fatally shot by Redmond Police Sunday evening after she confronted officers with a handgun.
The subject called 911 at 9:23 p.m. from a residence in the 8700 block of 161st Ave NE and claimed someone was in her apartment and trying to kill her. Responding officers located the woman on her upper floor balcony. She reported she had been the one to call 911 and indicated that she had possibly shot someone.
During the interaction, she confronted officers with a handgun, multiple shots were fired, and the subject was struck several times. Police immediately administered CPR and requested aid, but she was pronounced dead at the scene. No officers were injured during the incident, and there was no one else located in her apartment.
As is customary with an officer-involved shooting, an outside agency is investigating the incident. The King County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit is leading the investigation, and all future updates will be released through their department.
