REDMOND, WA – The City of Redmond is seeking applicants for one available seat on its Civil Service Commission. The Civil Service Commission is responsible for the hiring and promotional examinations of all regular-status public safety positions. Additionally, it acts as an appeal board for grievances in the Redmond Fire Department and Police Department.
Civil Service commissioners are non-partisan volunteers and must adhere to state and local laws, codes and rules governing Civil Service. This includes RCW 41.08 for Firefighters and RCW 41.12 for Police, and RMC 4.10 Boards, Commissions, and Committees General Procedures. Civil Service commissioners are appointed for six-year terms.
The three-member commission meets with city staff at 4:30 p.m. on the third Wednesday of every month. Occasionally, there may be a need for a special meeting, to be scheduled at the availability of the Civil Service commissioners. Meetings are public and open to the community.
