[ARCHIVED] City Seeks Applicants for Parks, Trails, and Recreation Commissioners and Youth Advocates

Volunteer to help guide the future of Redmond’s parks, trails, and recreation

REDMOND, WA – The City of Redmond is recruiting applicants to fill two mid-term vacancies and two youth advocate positions on the Parks, Trails, and Recreation Commission. Community members residing within the 98052 zip code who have an interest in Redmond parks and recreational programs are encouraged to apply.

Commissioners learn about local government, provide feedback on public policies and programs, and have opportunities to participate in other city events and engage with community members. The City values commissioners who can connect with a broad spectrum of parks, community center, and trails users, as well as those who will represent community members’ interests at meetings with City Council and the commission.

One mid-term position is a two-year term and the other is a three-year term, both with the opportunities to renew for a second three-year term. The two youth advocate positions are one-year terms with an option to renew and are open to residents between the ages of 14 and 18.

The City is committed to having a commission that reflects the diversity of the community and welcomes applications from any resident interested in the future of Redmond parks, trails, and recreation, including those who may have applied for past vacancies.

Commission meetings are mandatory and are held at 6:30 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month. Meetings are hybrid, with an in-person option preferred at Redmond City Hall.

To apply, visit redmond.gov/Commissions. Interested community members are encouraged to apply by 5 p.m. on Sept. 7. For questions about the commission, contact Parks Planning Manager Caroline Chapman at ckchapman@redmond.gov or visit redmond.gov/ParksTrailsCommission.
