[ARCHIVED] Redmond to Join Cities Nationwide for ‘America’s Night Out Against Crime’

On Tuesday, August 1, neighborhoods throughout Redmond city limits are invited to join to forces with other communities nationwide for the 40th Annual National Night Out (NNO) annual community-building campaign.

Redmond Police Department, Redmond Fire Department and Elected Officials have partnered up for NNO to offer neighborhood visits from 6 to 9 p.m. on Aug. 1st.  All Redmond community members are invited to register and plan neighborhood parties by Monday, July 24 at https://www.redmond.gov/FormCenter/Police-9/NNO-Event-Registration-177

The best way to build a safer community is to know your neighbors and your surroundings. NNO brings communities together to heighten crime and drug awareness and strengthen relationships between neighbors and police. NNO triumphs over a culture that isolates us from each other and allows us to rediscover our own communities.

“We encourage our community members to gather with their neighbors and invite us to share in their celebration,” said Redmond Police Chief Darrell Lowe. “National Night Out is an excellent opportunity to learn more about our community members and build stronger connections.”

When registering neighborhood events, you can request a visit from any of the participating safety departments. Staff will best match all requests and help make the night fun and informative. Registration is easy – just list the time, place, and which city department you would prefer to attend. A response cannot be guaranteed once online registration closes due to high request volumes.

For more information about the NNO, visit https://www.redmond.gov/613/National-Night-Out. To learn more about the history of National Night Out, visit https://natw.org. To reach the crime prevention team, email crimeprevention@redmond.gov.
