Kia and Hyundai owners may qualify for a free steering wheel lock from the Redmond Police Department. The locks are being distributed in response to an increase in thefts of certain models.
Redmond residents who own 2021 and older Hyundai vehicles with key ignition start or Kia vehicles that use a steel key may pick up a free steering wheel lock from Redmond City Hall on Sunday, March 12, between 9 a.m. to noon.
Residents who qualify for the free steering wheel lock must provide proof of registration and residency. The steering wheel locks will be handed out on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.
Owners may pick up the free lock from the Redmond City Hall roundabout at 15670 NE 85th St., in Redmond.
The locks are provided by Hyundai and Kia Corporate to protect residents’ vehicles from being stolen.
