Redmond is Gearing Up for its Annual Derby Days

REDMOND, WA – The City of Redmond’s signature summer event, Derby Days, returns on July 14 and 15 at Redmond City Hall campus, located at 15670 NE 85th Street, Redmond. This two-day festival features bicycle races at the Jerry Baker Memorial Velodrome, live music, parades, carnival rides, a beer and wine garden, a drone light show, and more.

“Each year, everyone is invited as we kick off summer with Derby Days,” said Mayor Angela Birney. “This fun-filled Redmond tradition celebrates our love of bicycles and competition, brings neighbors together to connect with one another, and creates life-long memories. I look forward to celebrating with the community.”

Derby Days begins Friday night July 14, with a lineup of live, local music on the mainstage at City Hall, along with elite bike races and a kiddie kilo at Marymoor Park. Attendees can catch one of the races at Marymoor Park, then take a shuttle to City Hall to have dinner from the food trucks and booths, peruse the craft market, and enjoy the Derby Days Beer and Wine Garden on opening night.

Saturday festivities continue with the Kids Bike Parade and the Derby Days Grand Parade. Throughout the day attendees can take a shuttle to the Redmond Arts Festival by VALA Eastside at Redmond Town Center, to Jerry Baker Memorial Velodrome to try the track and watch more bike racing, and back to City Hall for live music, food vendors, carnival rides, the beer and wine garden, and more.

The weekend culminates with the Derby Days drone light show at City Hall, where over 100 drones will take flight using the latest drone and LED lighting technology to create a captivating light display in the night sky for all to enjoy.

The City is seeking applicants for involvement in this year's event. Opportunities range from sponsorship to food vendors to parade entries. For additional information, visit redmond.gov/DerbyDays or email events@redmond.gov.
