[ARCHIVED] City Seeks New Parks and Trails Commissioner

Volunteer to help guide the future of Redmond’s Parks, Recreation, and Trails

Redmond, WA – The City of Redmond is recruiting applicants to fill one vacancy on the Parks and Trails Commission. Community members who reside within the 98052 zip code are encouraged to apply for this four-year term position. The City is committed to having a commission that reflects the diversity of the community and welcomes applications from any resident interested in the future of Redmond parks, recreation, and trails, including those who may have applied for past vacancies.

Commission members must attend the Parks and Trails Commission meetings, held at 6:30 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month. Meetings are hybrid, with an in-person option at Redmond City Hall.

The City values commissioners who can connect with a broad spectrum of parks, community center, and trails users, as well as those who will represent community members’ interests at meetings with City Council and the commission. In addition to monthly meetings, commissioners may participate on special committees and attend public meetings and events.

Commissioners can expect to advise staff and City Council on projects such as:

  • Master planning of a Southeast Redmond neighborhood park
  • Redmond Central Connector Phase 3 trail project
  • Recreational programming strategies
  • Various planning and capital projects for parks and trails

To learn more about the Parks and Trails Commission, contact Parks Planning Manager Caroline Chapman at ckchapman@redmond.gov or 425-556-2442.

To apply, visit redmond.gov/Commissions. Interested community members are encouraged to apply by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 15.
