Redmond Police Department Kicks Off Community Police Academy

NEWS RELEASE

The Redmond Police Department (RPD) is hosting a Community Police Academy (CPA) designed to provide insight into the department and discover how RPD works every day to serve Redmond.

The eight-week long program is free to those 18 years and older. This year, 20 community members registered for the 2023 program.

Class topics include patrol procedures, traffic unit, SWAT, K-9 unit, mental health professional program, recruiting, and community outreach.

“The Community Police Academy offers a fun, interactive environment to learn about our policies and procedures,” said Chief Darrell Lowe. “It also gives participants an opportunity to ask questions and provide valuable feedback.”

The CPA begins Jan. 19 and is held every Thursday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Classes are taught by Redmond officers and personnel who are experts in their fields. To learn more, visit https://www.redmond.gov/1206/Community-Police-Academy.
