Human Services Commission Seeks New Member

Redmond, WA – The City of Redmond is seeking applicants for its Human Services Commission, which has one seat available. Individuals for this vacancy must live or work inside Redmond city limits with a 98052 zip code or live in unincorporated King County with a 98053 zip code. The Commission’s role is to advise the Mayor and City Council on general human services topics and make specific funding recommendations as part of the City’s budget process every two years. Commission meetings are mandatory and held on the second Monday of each month from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. in person at Redmond City Hall and virtually. All board and commission members are volunteers.

Candidates should be interested in a broad spectrum of human service topics, including basic needs, health care, counseling, domestic violence, and family support. Desirable qualities of a commissioner include a strong interest in these topics, a willingness to learn, and a passion for working to strengthen the City’s effectiveness in addressing these topics. Individuals who work for or serve on the board of directors of a human service agency receiving funding from the City are not eligible for consideration.
