Members of the Redmond Police Department recently attended a summit to enhance the department’s understanding and response to sexual assault victims. The Start by Believing summit was hosted by the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission’s Sexual Assault Investigations.
Start by Believing is an initiative established by the End Violence Against Women International organization to change how people respond to survivors of sexual violence.
“We recognize the importance of providing a safe and supportive environment for victims to report their assault so we can identify and hold offenders accountable,” said Police Chief Darrell Lowe.
The Office of Crime Victims Advocacy recognized the Redmond Police Department’s “dedication to addressing gender-based violence” in the Redmond community.
