[ARCHIVED] Redmond Seeks New Planning Commission Member

REDMOND, WA – The City of Redmond has an opening on the Planning Commission for anyone who lives within Redmond city limits. The commission’s role is to make recommendations to City Council regarding proposed amendments to Redmond’s Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Code. These recommendations are based on topics involving the future growth of the City, neighborhood planning, infrastructure, and the environment, among others.

The City is committed to having a commission that reflects the diversity of the community and encourages applications from all residents who are interested in the future of Redmond, including those who may have applied for past vacancies. Desirable qualities of a commissioner include a strong interest in the diversity of community issues, an ability to review the meeting materials in advance, and skills in communicating with others.

The seven-member commission meets at 7 p.m. on Wednesdays at City Hall, typically two to three times a month. All board and commission members are volunteers.

Learn more about the commission or apply, by visiting redmond.gov/Commissions. There is no deadline for the application, however interested community members are encouraged to apply by 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 9. The position will remain open until filled.

For questions regarding the Planning Commission position, please contact the Planning Commission Liaison at planningcommission@redmond.gov or by calling 425-556-2481.
