REDMOND, WA – The City of Redmond will host the second of five public hearings on the 2023-24 biennial budget on Tuesday, August 16, at 7 p.m. during the regular business meeting of the City Council. The community can watch the meeting remotely through redmond.gov/RCTVlive, Facebook (@CityofRedmond), Comcast Channel 321, Frontier Channel 34, or listen to the meeting by calling 510-335-7371. Public comments related to the budget hearing can be emailed to bpquestions@redmond.gov.
The goal of the public hearing is to gather community input about city issues, priorities, and fiscal matters before the final budget is adopted in December. August 16 is the second public hearing; however, public comments will be collected until the City Council adopts the budget on December 6. Three more public hearings are scheduled for October 18, November 1, and November 15.
In addition to public hearings, community members can voice their opinion about the budget through items from the audience at the Council’s regular business meetings on the first and third Tuesdays of the month or by email at bpquestions@redmond.gov. There are also eight budget study sessions scheduled in which the City Council will discuss various Budgeting by Priorities topics. The community is invited to attend study sessions, however, these meetings are informational only as public comments regarding budget matters are only conducted at public hearings or through the other methods noted above.
The City uses the Budgeting by Priorities process to create Redmond’s biennial budget. This process is used to identify the community’s highest priority services. Budget information is available on the City’s website at www.redmond.gov/Budget.
