Choreography of Gardens
Saturday, August 20, 2022
This workshop explores stage design, dance, and choreographic notation with local artist Coco Allred and Seattle-based dancer and choreographer Hannah Simmons.
About this event
This workshop explores stage design, dance, and choreographic notation. Using the Drawing Herd benches like a lego set, we will create various compositions to explore with our bodies and document with drawing and collage. We will discuss how the design of public space influences our movement and create our own imaginative and playful ways of navigating space. This class is co-taught by Seattle-based dancer and choreographer Hannah Simmons.
Hannah Simmons is a multi-disciplinary performer, choreographer and creator currently living and working in Seattle. She holds a B.A. from Bennington College in dance and mathematics. Her choreographies and installations are centered around giving viewers a dynamic and unusual perspective on their own bodies. Her recent work has been supported by Velocity Dance Center, NWFF’s Collective Power Fund, Jack Straw Cultural Center, the bst Residency at University of Washington, Seattle’s Office of Arts and Culture, and the Freeway Park Association.
This program is funded by the City of Redmond through the 2022 Art Season Grant
