The City of Redmond is interested in the thoughts and opinions of its residents. In 1998, the Mayor's Office developed a Citizen Satisfaction Survey to coincide with the biennial budget process. While the survey has been updated over the years, this tool has proved invaluable at helping to shape the budget to the priorities of its citizens.
Originally the survey was conducted only by telephone, but with an increasingly diverse population and the wide availability of mobile communication tools, a multi-modal approach of land line, mobile phone, and online polling is used. The survey is administered and analyzed by an independent research organization, currently EMC Research – Seattle Office.
