- Support for Special Olympics
Being involved in the community does not stop for the Redmond Police Department when we leave work. Among the many organizations the police personnel donate time to is Special Olympics.
Along with many police agencies throughout the United States, Redmond Police fully supports the efforts of Special Olympics Washington. The Law Enforcement Torch Run Campaign has raised millions of dollars for Special Olympics around the world.
Special Olympics provides year-round sports training and athletic competitions in an Olympic setting for individuals with special needs. All contributions are welcome, and of course, Special Olympics Washington is a 501(c)3 tax-deductible charitable organization.
To learn more about the Law Enforcement Torch Run Campaign (LETR) for Special Olympics, please visit Special Olympics Washington LETR Webpage.
Last year alone, Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Washington raised $527,091 and worldwide LETR raised 58 million dollars. All of this money raised goes directly to the athletes of Special Olympics and allows persons with intellectual disabilities, regardless of their ability level, to participate in sports and other programs offered by Special Olympics. The money raised from events such as the Polar Plunge allow the athletes of Special Olympics Washington to experience inclusion, success, pride and joy.
Polar Plunge
The Polar Plunge is typically held on a Saturday in February. If you are not able to plunge with the Redmond Police Department, please consider donating to this great organization and supporting a wonderful cause.
