The mission of Coffee with a Cop is to break down the barriers between police officers and the citizens they serve.
Coffee with a Cop is a national movement which focuses on building relationships between law enforcement and community members. It brings people together in-person at neutral locations to provide the opportunity for real conversations about issues that matter. In a short time, citizens and police officers get to know each other and discover mutual goals for the communities they live in and serve.
The program was started in 2011 by the Hawthorne, California Police Department and has since reached 48 states with thousands of successful events. The key to this successful growth is that the program opens the door for interactions outside of the crisis situations that typically bring law enforcement officers and community members together. For more information please visit the Coffee with a Cop website.
The Redmond Police Department joined the movement in June of 2015 and holds several events each year. We enjoy getting to know community members, answering their questions, hearing their concerns and building lasting relationships.
