The Farrel-McWhirter Farm School helps kids and adults connect with nature and rediscover our common roots. Using our beautiful park as classroom, the Farm School endeavors to cultivate a strong, vibrant community through agricultural education and hands-on learning over a variety of topics. Classes are conveniently arranged by age to ensure a fun and educational experience for all students. Through its programs, the Farm School helps students discover all the wonders and bounty farming and nature has to offer.
A very special series of classes geared for the littlest of farmers! Participants will enjoy exciting classes that will teach them all about farm animals, vegetation, tractors, and fun! Classes include crafts, stories, and hands-on education and encounters. Sample classes include but are not limited to:
Come meet the resident animals of Farrel-McWhirter Park. In your 1-hour Farm Tour you can expect to meet: a mini-horse, chickens, bunnies, goats, sheep, a micro-pig, ducks, and cows. You will have the opportunity to learn about each animal and get up close and personal with a few special residents. Closed toes shoes are required and long pants suggested. Programs run regardless of weather, so come prepared to experience the Farm rain or shine! Appropriate for all ages and abilities.
