Public Safety Building ESCO (Facility Energy Upgrades)

Slide1Project Overview

This project will upgrade critical systems at Redmond’s Public Safety Building to enhance energy efficiency, improve facility performance, and ensure compliance with Washington State’s Clean Buildings Performance Standard (CBPS). Through an Energy Savings Performance Contract (ESPC) with McKinstry, the City will replace aging HVAC equipment, upgrade controls, and install a modern building automation system to streamline scheduling and monitoring of energy systems. These improvements support mid-life modernization efforts, reduce utility and maintenance costs, and help the City meet its zero-carbon and sustainability goals. As a Tier 1 facility, the Public Safety Building must comply with CBPS by June 2028. This project ensures timely compliance while minimizing disruption to police operations and the regional NORCOM 911 dispatch center. Phase 2 builds on prior successes and continues Redmond’s leadership in sustainable, performance-driven public facility management.
