RSCC Site Plan

The building design has been thoughtfully planned with integrated sustainability measures:

  • The building will be LEED certified, with materials being selected for their resilience and durability, and will be sourced locally when possible.
  • Efficient mechanical, plumbing, electrical, windows/doors, and appliances have been selected.
  • A rooftop solar panel installation will provide 50% of the energy needed to operate the building. The solar panels are an opportunity for the Redmond community and businesses to get involved. More information about becoming a Solar Champion is here.

Exterior Design Concept & Amenities

The project architects, landscape designer, and engineers worked together to develop the design of the exterior of the building while also incorporating existing assets, such as the outdoor pickleball courts, heritage trees, and the expansion grassy areas that will continue to be used for community events, picnicking, classes and summer camp activities.

The current exterior design features include:

Outdoor Terraces

The design includes three outdoor gathering areas:

Indoor Design Concept & Amenities

The Redmond community, the Recreation Stakeholder Group, and city staff and leadership have contributed to a comprehensive vision for the interior design of the Senior & Community Center. The vision speaks to the importance of making all of Redmond’s diverse communities feel welcome and included.

Public art will also be an important element to the facility design, with opportunities outside and inside the building to celebrate Redmond’s culture, history, and diversity. In collaboration with the City, Opsis Architecture has chosen Joe Thurston to lead the development of the Art Master Plan for the project that will incorporate art installations across the site. His public artwork is recognizable throughout the Pacific Northwest and uses diverse and unusual materials, including light projection, wood, glass, resin, and steel.

All furniture shown appears to show approximate scale of the rooms. Furnishing colors and materials have not been finalized at this stage.
