The Redmond Police Department is seeking well-qualified entry, lateral, and exceptional police officers and professional staff to join our team.

General Requirements

  • At least 21 years of age
  • U.S. Citizen or lawful, permanent resident
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid WA State driver's license upon hire

Entry Level

Testing

Pass initial written and physical agility tests conducted through Public Safety Testing.

Background

Pass background including chief’s interview, polygraph, psychological and medical exams.

Academy

Complete WA State Criminal Justice Training Center Basic Law Enforcement Academy.

Field Training

Complete Field Training Program, partnering with an experienced officer for 16 weeks.

Lateral & Exceptional

Apply

Apply at redmond.gov, pass the screening process and oral board exam.

Oral Board Exam

Attend and pass the oral board exam in person or remotely via video or phone.

Background

Pass background including Chief’s interview, polygraph, psychological and medical exams.

Academy

Complete the 80-hour WA State Criminal Justice Training Center Equivalency Academy.

Field Training

Complete Field Training Program, partnering with an experienced officer for 12-16 weeks.

LATERAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Employed as a full-time, sworn, law enforcement officer for a minimum of 24 months within the last five years.
  • Provide a certificate or transcript from an equivalent Basic Law Enforcement Academy that satisfies WA State Criminal Justice Training Center requirements.


Exceptional REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or GED 
  • Be a current full-time sworn police officer who works for another law enforcement agency and worked less than two continuous years (with no break in service of more than 24 months if not currently employed as a police officer).

Entry Officer benefits

  • Entry pay range: $96,996 -$112,320 (plus up to $10,300 in bonuses)

  • Lateral pay range: $99,612 -$112,320 (plus approximately $11,923 in bonuses)
  • Education incentive up to $5,616
