Envision the Future of the Senior Center

Redmond Senior Center

The City of Redmond invites community members to envision the future of the Redmond Senior Center on January 23, at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 15670 NE 85th Street, Redmond, WA 98052. This meeting will begin with a formal presentation at 6:45 p.m. followed by conversations and activities. The meeting was originally scheduled for January 15, but was rescheduled due to inclement weather. In addition to this meeting, an online open house and survey will be available between January 7 and 23 at www.LetsConnectRedmond.com/RSC

The Redmond Senior Center needs a significant renovation or to be rebuilt. The purpose of the public outreach process is to involve the community in sharing their vision for the Senior Center with the City Council as they decide how to invest in the Redmond Senior Center. During the outreach process, we will revisit the outcomes of the 2017 Community Priorities for the Future of Redmond’s Community Centers Report, where the community acknowledged the need for more community centers, fitness, and community event spaces. During the community engagement process in January, the community will be asked to evaluate options from renovating the Senior Center, to expanding it and including some new amenities. All community members are welcome to participate and provide their ideas.

After the meeting, the project team will compile comments and data from the public meeting, stakeholder meetings, and the online questionnaire to develop concepts to share with the community at another meeting planned for February 10, at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 15670 NE 85th Street, Redmond, WA 98052. At that time, there will also be opportunities to participate online.

City staff will use the community’s recommendations to develop a proposal to share with City Council in March 2020.

For more information about this process, please email Carrie Hite, Parks and Recreation Director, or read this Fact Sheet. The Final Building Investigation Report is also available.
