Welcoming Week

Join the City of Redmond in celebrating Welcoming Week, a nationwide celebration of our country’s diverse cultures. The City will host multiple events that encourage connectivity and dialogue. All events are free and open to everyone, but some require registration.

Migration is Beautiful butterflyMigration is Beautiful 
by Oakland based artist Favianna Rodriquez
September 13-22, throughout Redmond 

A photo booth installation throughout Redmond featuring wings of a butterfly that proposes a new way of thinking about migration, rooted in movement transformation, and captivating grace. You can find Migration is Beautiful at various locations throughout the week, from the Teen Center, Downtown Park, City Hall, Redmond Central Connector, etc.

Mid-Autumn Festival – Celebration of Asian Culture

Aegis Gardens Cultural Center

Celebrate the harvest festival with dance and musical entertainment. Information, and experience tables, including Chinese calligraphy. 50+

Redmond Library

Join us while we discuss the different ways new and long-time residents can work together to create welcoming communities. We will watch a short film about how an Indian immigrant’s daughter campaigned to be a city council-member of a working class town where many new immigrants live. What are things that matter to you in the place you live? How do decisions get made? Who can participate? Let’s talk!

The Warrior Culture of the Philippines will highlight a 1500+ year old warrior culture and traditions of the Philippines, including martial arts, dance, and music. For girls and women ages 13 years and above, stay after the presentation for an offering of a free self-defense class. This event that is free and open to all.
