On August 19, 2008, the Redmond City Council approved the 2007
Shoreline Master Program Update
(Ord.
2410). Shoreline Master Programs must go through Department of
Ecology (DOE)
state review and approval process before becoming effective. Until Ecology approval, the City's 1979 Shoreline Master
Program remains in effect.
The Department of Ecology public comment period on Redmond's proposed
Shoreline Master Program update ran from January 14, 2009 through
February 16, 2009. During this timeframe, DOE held a public
hearing at the City of Redmond on January 22, 2009.
DOE submitted a summary of public testimony
to the City of Redmond. This summary includes both oral and written

The City submitted its
response
letter to the Department of Ecology's summary of public testimony on
March 30, 2009. In addition, some comments were directed to
the Department of Ecology. Click here to view

On July 7, 2009, the Department of Ecology approved Redmond's Shoreline
Master Program. This approval is subject to the city's agreement
to the required changes detailed in
Ecology's approval letter and accompanying attachments.
The Redmond Planning Commission held a public hearing on August 21, 2009
and unanimously approved the Shoreline Master Program incorporating
Ecology's required changes. The City Council adopted the Shoreline Master Program
(Ordinance 2486) on September 15, 2009.
