One of the early implementation actions associated with the Overlake
Neighborhood Plan update is a study of the NE 40th Street Corridor. In
March
2009, the City hired Otak Inc, a consulting firm, to conduct
the NE 40th Street Corridor Study. Work on this study will continue
through November.
- Improve the corridor for non-motorized modes (pedestrians and
bicyclists) by identifying improvements both along and across NE
40th Street.
- Identify improvements for all modes at the SR 520 interchange
with particular regard to safety.
- Enhance corridor aesthetics by identifying a corridor design
theme, including illumination and landscape concepts.
- Improve the function and safety of the 172nd Avenue NE
intersection.
The NE 40th Street Corridor Study Draft Report summarizes the
work conducted during the study as well as the recommendations for
quick action, short-term, and long-term improvements along the five
segments of the corridor. The
Executive Summary
provides an overview of this report.
Thank you for providing input to this project either at the open
house on Thursday, August 6, 2009 or through the online survey that ran
from August 21 through September 11, 2009. The
Executive Summary
summarizes the results of nearly 200 responses received during that
time.
The City and Otak solicited input on the NE 40th
Street Corridor through an online survey available from May 6
through May 27, 2009. This
Executive Summary
summarizes the results of over 400 responses received during that
time. Additional information can be found in the
Appendix (11.5 megs *).
