November 2006 Open House Summary

The City hosted a successful open house on Wednesday, November 15th at the VFW Post on 148th Avenue NE. Approximately 30 citizens attended the open house, in addition to city and agency staff, City Council members and members of other Redmond boards and commissions. A presentation was given at 4:30pm covering the project background, introducing the three alternatives, and describing the purpose of the open house as well as the various ways to provide public comment.

Before and after this presentation, participants were invited to explore a number of stations that described different aspects of the three alternatives, including land use; parks, open space and stormwater; and transportation. Each of these stations featured illustrative graphics describing alternative concepts for Overlake in 2030.

In addition to these stations, staff from the City of Bellevue and Sound Transit were on hand to answer questions and provide resources on related projects, including the Bel-Red Corridor Study and the East Link light rail project. For more information on these projects, please check the related projects page.

If you would like to see the graphics presented at the open house please visit the related documents page. For a brief overview of the three alternatives, please use the links below.

The Alternatives Matrix* describes the defining characteristics of the three alternatives, their consistency with the public workshop themes, City and other entity actions that could be considered, and an overview of the residential and commercial growth that is projected to occur in each.

The October newsletter* contains information on the open house, a summary of the alternatives, and next steps. Maps are used in this document to describe key characteristics of the alternatives for the Mixed-Use Core of Overlake.
