Do you enjoy working with kids? Did you love going to camp when you
were younger, but now you're too old to be a camper? Have you
ever thought about being a camp counselor, only to learn you don't meet the
minimum age requirement? Look no further; the Counselor-In-Training (CIT)
program is for you!
Designed to help prepare teens for their first REAL job, the CIT
program offers valuable skills and hands-on experience working with children
in a camp setting. CIT's participate in a variety of training
opportunities, see the Spring/Summer Recreation Guide for details. After
completing the training program, you will have the opportunity to volunteer at
Farrel-McWhirter Park Camps or Mini Sports Camps. Farrel-McWhirter
volunteers must be 13 years of age or older and assist with campers ages 3-9.
Volunteers are scheduled to work from 9am to 4pm, Monday through Friday.
Mini Sports Camp volunteers must be at least 13 years old, assist with
campers ages 4-6, and are scheduled to work 9am to 12 noon, Monday through
Thursday. Limited volunteer opportunities may be available for CIT's 15
years of age or older at the Boredom Busters Camps.

The Pony Club has been working hard and growing fast since 1997.
Currently we have 36 active members enjoying all that this special program
has to offer.
Pony Club members spend time at Farrel-McWhirter Farm learning new
equestrian skills, making new friends and enjoying hands-on experiences with
all the animals. Most important, members help younger children to have a
positive and educational experience in our pony programs.
As a member of the Farrel-McWhirter Pony Club you will not only enjoy
times at the farm, but many off-site group activities. Our Pony Club has
officers and committees that work to plan at least one off-site activity a
month, such as ice-skating, visiting a ranch or enjoying a live rodeo.
You must be at least 12 years old to join the club, but you don’t need
any previous horse experience. We provide extensive training by our expert
instructors and work hands on with each pony club member. Pony Club dues are
$15 a year and membership includes: hands-on training, a Pony Club t-shirt,
and other discounts. You can earn incentive awards to free rides and
trainings, while having fun! Scholarships are available for membership dues.
