Comprehensive Flood Hazard Management Plan

Your Stormwater Utility applied for and received a state grant to fund the development of a Comprehensive Flood Hazard Management Plan. Using those grant funds and matching funds from the Stormwater Utility, the City is proceeding with the plan.

The purpose of the plan is to:

  • Gather information about existing streams, rivers, land uses, and regulations related to flood hazard reduction;
  • Identify goals for flood hazard reduction consistent with the needs of residents, businesses, and neighboring jurisdictions; and
  • Identify flood hazards, evaluate alternative solutions and make recommendations for future projects or program modifications to address these hazards.

Benefits of the plan include:

  • The City will be able to most efficiently and effectively use your stormwater utility fees to build projects that reduce flood hazards.
  • Completion of this plan will make the City eligible for grants for flood hazard reduction projects.
  • Also, completion of this project, along with some other activities will make the City’s residents eligible for reductions in flood insurance premiums through the National Flood Insurance Program.
