Water Meter Application

All connections to the City of Redmond water system require an application for water meter installation. This application is made to the Development Services Center of the Public Works Department located on the 2nd Floor of City Hall at 15670 NE 85th Street.

Single-family, multi-family, commercial, or industrial structures and multi-family, commercial, or industrial irrigation uses must be served by at least one water meter to determine consumption. Some structures, such as single-family accessory dwelling units, restrooms or accessory facilities in public parks, individual mobile home units, and portable classrooms at school facilities do not require individual metering.

Water meter applications with complete information relevant for the property and use, including address, owner, billing information, meter size, installation requirements, and property owner signature are submitted to the Public Works Development Services Center.

Once received by the Development Services Center, water meter applications are prepared for sale. The cost of a water meter includes a general connection charge that is based on the water meter size and type of use. It also includes the installation (meter) fee based on the size of the meter and the type of installation (drop-in or full-service).

For new developments and water system extensions, construction and administrative paperwork must be complete prior to meter sales.

Additional information about utility system connections, water meter applications, permit fees, and installations can be obtained by calling 425-556-2840 or 425-556-2760.
